The largest mental health education and fundraising event in America, NAMIWalks brings together thousands of individuals and supporters to celebrate mental illness recovery, to honor those who have lost their lives to mental illness and to help raise funds, combat stigma and promote awareness.

The funds/contributions from NAMIWalks helps us sustain the programs we offer to families and consumers free of charge. ItIt has become more apparent that mental illness not only impacts the individual and their family, but the community, as well. For more information about NAMIWalks and how to support NAMI Prince George' s County, call (301) 429-0970 or email

Why We Walk?

We walk for the 61.5 million American experiencing mental illness in a given year.  We walk for the young and the old, the rich and the poor, the famous and the nameless suffering from mental illness.  We walk for the injustices and lack of attention that affects the quality of life for people with mental illness and their families.  We walk for the children and others who cannot advocate for themselves and for our veterans who battle in silence.  We walk for our neighbors, family members, colleagues and friends.  We walk because of the lives lost due to severe and persistent mental illness.  We walk simply because we are champions for mental health.
